Decreasing jaw pain in 4 steps

  1. Stop clenching your teeth.

Whether under stress or while sleeping at night, clenched teeth greatly increase muscle tension all around the jaw.

      2. Temporarily reduce the amount of hard food in your diet.

Do you often eat nuts? Raw fruits and vegetables? Try smoothies and opt for cooked fruits and vegetables until the pain goes away.

      3. Improve your posture.

Having your head positioned forward also increases muscle tension in your jaw. Gently tuck your chin in to bring your head above your shoulders.

       4. Cut your food into smaller pieces.

“Open your mouth wide,” says the dentist. Sometimes, it’s not easy when a jaw is sore. If opening your mouth causes symptoms, avoid repeating this movement by cutting your food.
